Wow! Maybe he'll be a genius.

I took Caleb for his 9 month check-up yesterday. He is healthy and and best sick child anyone could ever have - upon a routine ear check the good doctor noticed he had ear infections in both ears; I sure did not know.

But I write this to say something completely different. The nurse came in and took all of his measurements; everything was routine. A few minutes later the doctor came in asked how we were doing, looked at the chart notes then said, "Could you hold on second I need to get something and check it." He came walking back in with the measuring tape in hand. As he leaned in to measure Caleb's noggin again I laughed and said, "I know it's the biggest head I've ever seen." Then he said, "Well, I just want to make sure the nurse's measurement was right because it does not fit the pattern." We go on to talk about other things. I get home and look at his measurements and his growth chart percentiles. Here is the 9 month run down...

Height - 28.75 inches - 50th percentile
Weight - 20 pounds, 9 ounces - 50th percentile
Head Circumference - 19.25 inches - off the chart

Yes, the boy's noggin is a half of an inch bigger than other boys his age in the 95th percentile (apparently the chart does not plot the 100th percentile). I knew this crew around here - excluding myself - had big craniums but his puts the rest of them to shame!
