Monday's Quote of the Day

In reference to Anna Grace getting older and turning into a little girl:

"Man, it's easier to take care of children than it is a goldfish. I mean goldfish
die
and stuff but we've kept her alive for four years."

quote of the day

This might be a little step out since it is only 10:15am but I am pretty sure I have already heard the quote of the day. But before I share let me offer a little background information.

Caleb has become proficient at furniture walking. Therefore the "safe environment" of the little table that Dean and Anna Grace so often color, draw, paint and play play-doh without Caleb interfering is no more. This morning I have heard, "Maaaammmmaa! He's got the (you fill in the blank) again!" about fifty times. About the time I was ready to pack his bags for baby boarding school (does such a thing exist?!?) I heard:

"Caleb-man, you are just a man for bad stuff!"
~ Anna Grace

And here he is now.

Does he look like a "man for bad stuff" to you?

Victory at all cost.

My mom has told me before that she thinks Anna Grace has a very competitive spirit. Until the past few weeks I just haven't seen it. This morning though there was no denying her drive to win...

We were having our usual dressing race - Anna Grace vs Dean. It was an unusually close race today ending in a victory for Dean by a narrow margin of one sock. After he left the room Anna Grace said, "I want to be a boy." I actually thought she was telling me she wanted to dress like a boy but then she added, "There's too much stuff for girls." I said the only thing I knew to say, "Well, you are going to have to talk to God about that." Next thing I knew...

Okay, let's pray.
God, I really want to be a boy so it won't take me so long
to go to school. And thank you for all of the wonderful
things. And, God, please change Dean into a girl.
Amen.

I said, "Amen," walked out of the room got down the hall and started laughing. Then got a pen and paper started writing as fast as I could.

Just for the record though Dean is pretty competitive too. His idea of a race up the stairs is to announce it just before putting his foot on the first step then hold his hands/arms out to the side as to block anyone from passing him on the stairs. He is currently undefeated.
